I recently recieved the Gorgon Records 7" (repress) of Eek A Mouse's "Peeni Walli" tune which tells the real life tale (or should that be tail!) of "Eek's" almost deadly road accident in Jamaica in a his humourous "singjay" style, full of Jamaican patois which really brings out the more serious side of the song in an almost "black humour" or fatalistic kind of way.
For those who don't know, a "Peeni Walli" is a small fly with a glowing abdomen, like a small Fire Fly.
Over a wicked 80's riddim (pre digital) which sounds like Sly & Robbie (the rimshots sound like "Sinsimilla " 1980 era Uhuru) "Eek" (real name Ripton Hylton!) nasily retells his exciting story.........

Not so common for a reggae tune is the searing lead guitar solo that's featured at the halfway point of this record, but not to worry as it dosen't detract from the very "roots" sound that permiates this release. Top stuff & a excellent pressing to boot!
