Entertainer killed in Old Harbour
Entertainer “Risto Benjie” was shot and killed in Old Harbour, St. Catherine Monday night.
The 36-year artiste, whose given name is Michael Benjamin of Unity in St. Andrew was shot dead by a gunman in an area known as “Vietnam” in Church Pen about 10:00 p.m.
It’s reported that Mr. Benjamin was sitting outside a house when the man walked up.
He opened fire hitting Mr. Benjamin several times.
He later died at hospital.
Entertainer Risto Benji is dead.
According to the Old Harbor Police, the thirty six year old entertainer of Unity in St. Andrew was shot several times by a gunman in an area known as "Vietnam" in Church Pen at about 10:00 pm Monday.
Risto Benji was taken to the Spanish Town hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The police are investigating.

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer Entertainer 'Risto Benji', who is charged with robbing a woman with a knife, was granted bail in the sum of $40,000 when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
The deejay, whose real name is Michael Benjamin, is of a Unity Drive, Kingston, address.
The court was informed that on March 10, about 9:45 a.m., the complainant went to the Sagicor Shopping Centre in Spanish Town, St Catherine, where she purchased some foreign currancy.
On her way out, she is said to have seen Benjamin and asked him how she could get a taxi to the Spanish Town Court House.
Benjamin is reported to have offered to take her on his bike for $200.
The court was further informed that during the journey, Benjamin insisted on holding the money, but the woman would have none of it.

He became angry and rode the bike on to Bishop Lane in Spanish Town.
Allegations are that he jumped off the bike, brandished a knife and grabbed her cellphone valued at $4,000 and demanded the money. She is said to have resisted and ran.
Police personnel are said to have seen her with the entertainer chasing her. She was rescued and the accused man held.
Benjamin was subsequently charged with robbery with aggravation by Detective Corporal Debbie Bailey of the Spanish Town Police Station.
Benjamin is set to reappear in court on June 22.

An entertainer, who was caught by an angry mob as he allegedly attempted to steal a motorcycle, was soundly beaten and handed over to the New Kingston police yesterday.
He is Michael Benjamin, popularly known as deejay 'Risto Benji', 37-year -old of Spanish Town, St Catherine.
Reports reaching THE STAR are that about 4 p.m., the former top-flight entertainer went to the New Kingston Shopping Centre. He is said to have attempted to steal a Honda Nighthawk motorcycle that was parked there. He was reportedly caught by the alert owner who sounded an alarm.
"Yes, mi boss! Ah from Wednesday we a watch dem 'cause we observe dem 'bout de place. Dat is why we haffi brush him up when we hol' him. A di police dem save him,'' one bike messenger told THE STAR.
The disgruntled messengers said that they were frustrated as the theft of motorcycles in the New Kingston area had increased in recent times.
''Is earlier dem tief mi bethren bike, right up de so," a male bystander said while pointing along Knutsford Boulevard. " It hurt wi very much, so we not playing wid none a dem.''
When contacted, an inspector at the New Kingston Police Post said the entertainer was in their custody and further investigations are being conducted.
Two years ago the entertainer who is known for songs like Don't Press Button, Don't Pirate It and Gimme De Money was also accused of being involved in the robbery of a woman in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
He was charged with robbery with aggravation and is currently before the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on that matter.
